Minesweepers and Minehunters

Sauer is well known for its range of non-magnetic high and medium-pressure compressors for use in MCMs (mine countermeasures ships). These top-quality, state-of-the-art models are used in a variety of minehunter and minesweeper vessels including the German MJ334, the French Tripartite or the famous Norwegian Oksöy SES catamaran class.

Sauer has been involved with MCM applications for more than 50 years now. During this time, the company has consistently set new standards in terms of compressor design, shock resistance and magnetic/acoustic interference levels.

Our wealth of experience, ongoing development work and renowned international customers whose fleets use our systems have made Sauer Compressors the world leader when it comes to compressors for minesweepers and minehunters.

Sauer non-magnetic compressors:
  • 2-stage, air-cooled starting-air compressors (e.g. the WP22L) with up to 40 bar and 35 m³/h
  • 3 and 4-stage, air-cooled high-pressure compressors (e.g. the WP3232 - WP4330) with up to 350 bar and 30 m³/h
  • Vertical or horizontal swash plate designs (e.g. the TGM15/30 and TGM60) with up to 250 bar and 60 m³/h
  • Breathing-air compressors
  • Vertical radial cylinder type units (WP5000) with up to 400 bar and 160 m³/h
Advantages of Sauer non-magnetic compressors:

All Sauer compressors are available in low-magnetic or non-magnetic designs with an uncorrected magnetic flux density of less than 2 nt.

At the same time, they are designed to emit minimal air and structure-borne noise, thus reducing the vessel’s overall emissions.

It goes without saying that Sauer’s compressors for MCM vessels can withstand extremely high impacts without suffering damage. After all, vessels of this type are at risk from underwater explosions even in peace times.

With its comprehensive range of high, medium and low-pressure compressors in both air and water-cooled versions, Sauer can offer its customers a variety of solutions to suit their own particular system requirements.

Complete NATO codification and full logistical back-up ensure the high level of support required by naval fleets.
